Most dashboards get opened once.Mine get used.

Herbert Klinkvis at a lighthouse on the Atlantic coast

The analyst

My instinct is to look past the numbers and ask what they actually mean — for the team, for the strategy, and for the people on the receiving end.

With a background spanning financial services, public administration, and academic research, I’ve spent over a decade finding the signal in the noise — and making sure the right people can act on it.

A lifelong reader and history enthusiast, I’ve learned that context is everything: good analysis doesn’t start with data, it starts with the right question.

Chess pieces on a board representing strategy and leadership

The leader

I hold a Master’s in International Relations and have contributed to research cited in internationally published academic work. I’m a certified Scrum Master (PSM I & II, PSPO I), which means I don’t just build dashboards — I help teams decide what to build and why.

A historic European street at golden hour

The European

I work in English, Dutch, German, French — with Spanish closing in fast. Navigating international stakeholders, cross-border regulations, and multicultural teams across Europe.

Five languages.United by one European market.Native everywhere.

What I bring to the table

Analytics, leadership, and a European mindset — in equal measure.

  • Data & Analytics

SQL · Python · Databricks · Power BI · ML Fundamentals. I turn raw data into models, reports, and dashboards that people actually use.

  • Agile & Leadership

PSM I, PSM II, and PSPO I certified. I’ve led squads, run retrospectives, and built the kind of rhythm that keeps data teams from drowning in backlog.

  • European Reach

Fluent in four languages.Working on a fifth.I bring context across borders, cultures, and regulatory environments.

  • Proven impact

Delivered millions in annual recurring savings through data-driven decision making across retail banking campaigns.

  • Academic impact

Master’s in International Relations from Utrecht University. Research cited in internationally published academic work, including Oxford- and Cambridge-affiliated researchers.

  • Civic impact

Former municipal councillor in Zwolle. Research on open data and privacy led to several parliamentary motions and data analysis on passport costs led to a unanimous amendment of the Dutch Passport Act.

Let’s connect!

Good conversations lead to great things. Whether it’s about data, careers, meeting new people, or something completely different — I’m always happy to connect.
